The Miniature Railway Museum Trust

About The Trust

The Miniature Railway Museum Trust has been formed to preserve the heritage of Britain's miniature railways. On the board of trustees are owners and operators of some of Britain's most popular and historic miniature railways, as well as key advisors drawn from professional staff and boards of well-established railway and transport museums.

A Cagney loco at Blakesley HallA Cagney loco at Blakesley HallThe Miniature Railway Museum isn't just about locomotives, but includes all the other artefacts that made miniature railways such an important part of the leisure and holiday industry from the 1900s onwards. We are concentrating on an area of railway heritage hitherto neglected that between model and narrow gauge railways. Hundreds of lines and thousands of items of stock existed, and millions of passengers have travelled on them yet there has been no place for them to be centrally recorded, interpreted and made available for the public.

Whether it's 3.5", 5" gauge, gauge, 21" gauge, steam, electric or diesel any miniature railway with British links is of relevance to the MRMT.

We have selected Cleethorpes as an appropriate base for activities due to the relatively central geographical nature, the volume of potential visitors, and the proximity of a historic seaside miniature railway with a proven preservation ethos. It must be noted that the MRMT activities are entirely independent of the neighbouring Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.

Vision of the Trust
