The MRMT is currently focusing on fundraising and administration with a view to constructing the Museum base in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. The team of 9 trustees have been working since March 2008 to secure land and funding from various sources.

A major grant was obtained to fund a professional museum consultant on the viability of specific sites for a museum; the findings are now being developed into a full business plan. Museum and visitor attraction experts are being consulted and progress towards museum accreditation is being made: we are fortunate in having a wide base of highly skilled trustees who are professionals in appropriate fields. A curatorial group has been formed with a view to putting in place a framework for collections.

Once we have the support and mechanisms in place, then the MRMT will start the process of acquisition of a cohesive collection for display, curation and interpretation.

The first public manifestation of the MRMT's work was a full interpretative display of the 15" gauge Sutton Collection, on display at the Sutton Gala of the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway on 6th September 2008.
